Acrylonitrile is a type of nitrile, and as an intermediate, it is currently one of the most important organic compounds in the chemical industry.
It is the primary material for acrylic fiber, synthetic resins, synthetic rubber, and carbon fiber.

Acrylic fiber is mainly used for knit clothing such as sweaters and socks.

Synthetic resins are mainly used for plastic materials in bicycles, home appliances, household goods and so on.
Synthetic rubber which has the ability to resist heat, has anti-fraction and chemical resistance properties, is used for car tires, conveyor belts, and rubber packing.

Carbon fiber has the characteristics of “strength and lightness” so it may be used as materials in manufacturing aircrafts and artificial satellites.
It may also be used in a wide range of products such as tennis rackets and fishing rods.

Hydrocyanic acid which is a byproduct of acrylonitrile production, is the main raw material for methyl methacrylate.
